Theme: Culture Orientated: The New Development Strategy of the Nation

Brief Introduction:

China’s economy has experienced a sustained and rapid period of growth, catching the eyes of the whole world after entering the new century. In this process, the pace of upgrading the industrial structure has been significantly quickened and urban areas have been racing to achieve similar development. Culture construction has been proposed as the key issue in the Sixth Plenary Session of the 17th Central Committee of the CPC. Developing the cultural industry becomes an important avenue to enriching socialist culture in the market economy and to meeting the spiritual and cultural needs of the people.

Against these historic backgrounds, Peking University for the 9th consecutive year, organized the 9th FICI on 7th – 8th , Jan., 2012 with the theme “Culture Orientated: The New Development Strategy of the Nation”, to discuss the role and practical mode of cultural industries in the context of cultural-orientated strategy under the new historical conditions.
